Impossible Question – Monday, October 31st

The record for the largest gathering of these is nearly 31,000.  What is it?

A:  Jack-o-lanterns

Last Saturday at the 2nd Annual Great Pumpkinfest in Highwood, Illinois, 30,919 jack-o-lanterns were lit to break a 5-year-old record (by nearly 800 pumpkins).

Still Need a Costume?

Sure it’s getting a little late to come up with a Halloween getup for trick-or-treating tonight, but never fear, eBay to the rescue!

Yes, you could be the Human Slinky.

Okay, it costs a million bucks (free shipping though), but the listing promises that it’s the “Best Halloween costume period.”  So there’s that.  Plus you get the rights to perform on stage in the costume for five years.

Still not convinced?  Then check out the video:

One of my favorite days of the year is almost here!

Halloween is THIS weekend. I remember trying to plan costumes back in the beginning of September. I previously wrote a blog about how much I enjoy making my own Halloween costume. I won’t be doing that this year because I will be at the FLY FM Masquerade Ball at the Renaissance. It’s a good thing I didnt attempt to make a costume because for this event because I wanted somethig big with lots of poof and a gorgeous sparkly mask (and that’s exactly what I got thanks Tina from Audrey’s Costume Castle for picking it out for me!). One of my favorite costumes that I put together a few years back was Wednesday Adams. It just so happened to be the anniversary of the Adams family (which was a pure fluke) I woke up super early to get dressed and do all my make up. I think I pretty good job what do you  think?

Halloween Costume Idea For Adults: Sesame Street?

I thought I had seen all the hot Halloween costume ideas for this year (Alice in Wonderland, Jersey Shore, zombies, witches, etc), and then I found these…Sesame Street costumes for grown-ups.  And I like them.

How ’bout you?

From CNBC:

The Sesame Street costumes use a feathery fabric that mimics the fuzziness of the puppets in the classic children’s TV show. There are also other details in the costume that reinforce the image. For example, the Big Bird outfit includes thigh-high hose that resemble the character’s legs, and a headband with Big Bird’s face. But the length of the skirt, and the bows on the stockings, all convey a flirty feeling.

The costumes will likely be worn by younger women in their early twenties, but the company also sells versions of the characters in different designs targeted to teenagers and older women. For those groups, the costumes provide more body coverage.

Still, it’s the “Sassy” versions that are getting all the attention. Several retailers reported the costumes are a big hit with customers.

Is it too early for Halloween?

So, I’m one of those people who LOVES Halloween. I know I sound like a big kid but I love dressing up and being something I’m not for a day. Last year Shauna, Jen, and myself were dressed as Three’s Company. Guess who was Jack? Yours Truly! I’ll admit it was strange being a man for one night but how can you not have fun being the loveable Jack Tripper?!?! :)

I like to make my costumes too. Whether it’s rummaging through the racks at Value Village or going through some of my old clothes and previous costumes it’s exciting. Is it too early to start thinking about costumes? Do you think it’s better to make your own or buy a costume?
