GET W.I.T.H. IT
Get W.I.T.H. (Walking In The Halls) is on now! It’s a walking program that provides a safe, warm, well-lit walking- instead of trying to brave the ice and snow outside. It’s held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-7pm at the Rideau District High School. It’s open to everyone who’d like a safe walking environment. Please note that if the buses are cancelled, the program is also cancelled for that day.

BAN RIGH CENTRE WINTER SPEAKER SERIES
The Ban Righ Centre Winter 2012 Special Speaker Series is “Humanity and Nature: Reconnecting.”

DIVE!
Dive! has won 21 awards in festivals worldwide. Dive! follows Jeremy Seifert and his friends as they dumpster dive in the back alleys and gated garbage receptacles of Los Angeles’ supermarkets, salvaging food, and questioning contemporary systems of making, transporting, and distributing food.
Check out the film and following discussion on Wednesday, February 1 at 7pm in Mackintosh-Corry Hall D216 (on the main floor), Queen’s Campus. Donations are appreciated, and will be contributed to reclamation of healthy and organic food to meal programs across Kingston.

TALENTS & TREASURES AUCTION
The 18th annual Talents & Treasures Auction, held in support of the Food Sharing Project, is happening on Friday, February 3, at Bayridge Secondary School on Taylor Kidd Blvd. Doors open at 6:30pm for the preview and to begin bidding on silent auction items. There will be musical entertainment from local school talent to enjoy while you work through the silent auction tables. Live auction begins at about 8pm. Admission is $3 per person or $5 for two, with complimentary refreshments. Pay by VISA, Mastercard, Interac, cash or cheque.
The Food Sharing Project feeds more than 4200 students every school day in the KFL&A Area.

SEELEY’S BAY FROST FEST
Frost Fest is on from February 3–5th in Seeley’s Bay.
The Gala Opening kicks off this 3-day event on Friday night with a fireworks display over the Bay.  Visit a crooked house, join the ATV Poker Run, visit the craft show, view the Heritage Display, join the Scavenger Hunt, bid at the Silent Auction, enjoy a wagon ride throughout the town and lots more.

There’s a Celtic Singalong on Saturday, February 4th from730-10 pm at Bens Pub (105 Clergy Street). QUEEN’S S.T.R.I.V.E. CONFERENCE
The Queen’s STRIVE (Students Taking Responsible Initiatives towards a Viable Environment) committee will be hosting a free conference on February 8th, 2012 from 6:30pm at Dunning Auditorium. The conference is focused on water-related issues, seeing as Queen’s is implementing a ban on bottled water. Last year, the speakers included Alana Mitchell, author of ‘Sea Sick’ and Maude Barlow, co-founder of the Blue Planet Project. The conference is open to the Kingston community. The Kingston Business & Professional Women’s Club is a non-profit, international organization. The focus of BPW is to raise awareness of women’s issues, develop a networking support group plus award a bursary to a woman who is starting a business.

Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre’s 7th annual “Previously Loved” Art & Jewellery Sale is being held at Frontenac Mall February 10-12th.  Featuring over 100 pieces of antique, original, decorator and photography art and over 1,000 pieces of vintage, estate and costume jewellery.  All proceeds go to Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre for the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife.

The Kingston Clinic is now at their new location at 850 Gardiners Road Unit B.  The permanent location clinic hours have changed.
Kingston permanent clinics are held every Tuesday and Wednesday from 3-7pm and two clinics are held every Thursday from 9am-1pm and 3-7pm.
Their next bi-monthly Saturday clinic is being held on February 11th from 10am-2pm.

KINGSTON GETS ACTIVE
Kingston Gets Active is a not-for-profit group of community organizations that work together to promote physical activity in Kingston.
All grade 5 and 9 students from all local schools have free access to participating facilities at designated times. All they need is their activity pass card (grade 5) or student card (grade 9), which are provided by the school board and registered through Kingston Gets Active. This is a really great opportunity to stay active and have fun!

Shaun Riley and the Chrome Hearts host an “Open Blues Jam” every Thursday evening (8-11pm) at Rhea’s Bar and Grill 493 Princess St. All players (beginners to advanced) are welcome to jam with the band.
