Chef Boyardee, Granny Smith, Monterey Jack and Sara Lee all have this in common.  What?

A:  They’re all real people

Hector Boiardi, Maria Ann Smith, David Jack and Sara Lee Lubin were/are all actual people.  Unlike Betty Crocker, Aunt Jemima or Dr. Pepper.

New on DVD/Blu Ray This Week

Breakfast Club Movie Maven, Kate Black is on the disabled list this week (illness).  She did send along quick info on two new home movie releases:

One for the Money is a comedy based on Janet Evenovich’s novels-starring Katherine Heigl, Jason O’Mara, Debbie Reynolds

Not a great film but okay for anyone looking for a light, entertaining chick flick.Â

Albert Nobbs is an Oscar worthy character drama starring Glenn Close, Janet McTeer, Mia Wasikowska, Brendan Gleeson. 

A well written, masterfully acted period piece set in 19th Century Ireland.  Special features on DVD/BR include excellent interviews with cast.

Impossible Question – Tuesday, May 15th

The Philippines is the only country where you can’t do this.  What?

A:  Get a divorce

Malta introduced divorce legislation last fall leaving the Philippines (and city-state Vatican City) as the only country that does not allow divorce.

About a quarter of all guys have done this at a wedding.  What?

A:  Cry

According to a Glamour magazine survey, 26% of guys have cried at a wedding.  56% said the best moment of their wedding was when their bride walked down the aisle.  24% picked the wedding night, while 9% said it was doing shots with their buddies at the reception.

According to the second Moms and Media survey (for moms born between ’77 and ’94) 8 in 10 moms are on Facebook.  Last year the moms averaged 151 friends, this year it’s 209.

72% of moms are frustrated by Facebook format changes.

How many children did the woman who created Mother’s Day have?

A:  None

Anna Jarvis never married and never had children.  In 1905, she organized the first Mother’s Day service at the church where her mom had been a Sunday school teacher.  Towards the end of her life, Anna said she wished she’d never started the day because it became so commercialized.
